Armed Forces Flag Day will be observed all over the country on December 7th like previous years. Since 1949, the day is observed to honour the martyrs as well as men and women in uniform, who valiantly fight on our borders to safeguard the country’s honour. Speaking at a function organized in New Delhi on December 2nd, for the customary launch of the Armed Forces Flag pinning, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged countrymen to voluntarily contribute to AFFD Fund.
देश में 32 लाख से अधिक पूर्व सैनिक हैं और हर साल 60,000 सैनिक सेवानिवृत के बाद इसमें जुड़ जाते हैं। सरकार की संस्था केंद्रीय सैनिक बोर्ड पूर्व सैन्यकर्मियों और उनपर आश्रितों के कल्याण के लिए नीतियां बनाता है । साल 1949 के से ये दिवस शहीदों के साथ-साथ सैनिकों को सम्मानित करने के लिए मनाया जाता है। पूर्व सैनिकों के कल्याण और पुनर्वास के लिए सरकार द्वारा सशस्त्र सेना झंडा दिवस कोष का गठन किया गया है।
